3 Tips for Losing 5 Pounds in a Month

Losing weight for many feels like an impossible journey. However, it doesn’t have to be an overwhelming challenge. In fact, you could lose as much as five pounds in a month the healthy way— without having to follow some kind of crazy restriction diet or workout for hours a day.

It all comes down to making small and consistent changes to your diet and lifestyle and you’d be surprised how quickly you can achieve your goal. Yes, whether you’re 25 or over the age of 70, losing weight is entirely achievable. Here are some of the best tips for losing 5 lbs in a month.

Eat Fewer Calories Than You Burn

Weight loss is what happens when you create a caloric deficit. In other words, consume fewer calories than your body needs and work out.  To lose 5 lbs in a month, you’ll need about 500 calories less per day. You’d be surprised how quickly this can be achieved.

Often it’s as simple as cutting a few items out of your daily diet that you might have otherwise indulged in. For example, you can switch out your afternoon donut for an apple or reduce your portion sizes. A few small efforts throughout the day can quickly add up to a considerable caloric deficit if you’re willing to make a few small changes.

Increase Your Movement

The more you move, the more likely you are to burn fat and reach your weight loss goal. You don’t have to spend hours at the gym per day to lose a little bit of weight, believe it or not. It’s as simple as taking a 30-minute walk once a day, and getting up and moving around a little more often.

If you have a very sedentary lifestyle, then you might want to consider investing in an activity watch. Something like a Fitbit or an Apple Watch is a great way to track your movement and reach your movement goal.

These watches can send you reminders to stand up if you’ve been sitting down for a while, as well as celebrate meeting your movement goals. You can even set up competitions with friends and family to motivate you to move a little more. Sometimes a little healthy competition is the best way to stay motivated.

Consume More Fiber

Fiber is a great tool for losing weight because it makes you feel fuller for longer. Eating fiber-rich foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains can sustain your hunger for longer, which discourages you from snacking mindlessly throughout the day. You may even want to consider taking a fiber supplement if you find that you’re still hungry after finishing your meal. This won’t just aid with digestion but also avoids over-consuming calories.
