If you’ve been finding that you’re not getting as much exercise as you’d like to on a regular basis, you’ll be glad to know that there are all kinds of ways that you can be more active during your days without having to set aside hours of time at the gym. In fact, by being a little more aware of how much you’re moving your body, you can find ways to burn more calories during the day, become more flexible, and get your blood pumping all at the same time.
To help you learn how this can be done, whether you’re a young parent or in a senior living community, here are three simple ways to be more active next week.
Find Ways To Walk More
One of the best and easiest ways to get more activity is to walk more. Walking is something that nearly everyone can do, and you don’t even have to walk quickly or for an extended period of time to get a benefit from more walking.
To help you get in a few more steps this week than you did last week, think about things that you can do that will encourage you to walk a bit more. This could include things like taking the stairs rather than an escalator or elevator, parking further away from the entrance of a building, or just walking around your neighborhood with your kids or your pets.
Use Your Downtime To Do More
If you have downtime during the day when you’re not using your body for anything and you don’t have to focus too hard on the task at hand, you may find that you’re able to fit some light exercise into these periods of time throughout the day.
For example, if you like spending time watching TV at the end of the day, consider getting a walking pad and walking while your shows play. You could also do this while listening to a podcast or audiobook. Additionally, if you’re waiting for something like food to cook in the microwave or your kids to finish something, you should do some body weight exercises or light stretching to help you get more movement.
Add More Movement To Your Current Activities
If you’re already finding ways to get in some movement during your days, you might want to consider adding onto this for more health benefits. You could do simple things like try speed cleaning your home to work up more of a sweat, carrying your groceries in a basket rather than just a push cart, and playing with your pets or kids more physically.
If you want to find simple and easy ways to be a bit more active next week than you were this week, consider how you can implement some of the tips mentioned above.
