Why Some People Choose a Life of Violence and Crime

by Dina Iakimchuk

Our world has always had kindness and evil. Black and white sides accompany us every day. Why do some people chose to be nice and some people want to be bad? Let’s try to find out the answer to this question. In my opinion there are several causes, such as lack of parental attention, not finding correct friends, and TV influences. These can all explain why people choose a life of crime.

Dozens interested in Wash. pot consultant job

TACOMA, Wash. (AP) — The job description requests an unlikely mix of skills: five years of regulatory experience, with a law degree preferred, and extensive knowledge of all things marijuana.

But that didn’t stop dozens of people from turning out Wednesday — in flannel and suits, ponytails and hemp necklaces — to find out more about becoming Washington state’s official marijuana consultant.

As officials figure out how to regulate the state’s newly legal marijuana, they’re hiring an adviser to fill in the gaps of the typical bureaucrat’s education: how cannabis is best grown, dried, tested, labeled, packaged, regulated and cooked into brownies.

An Extraordinary Talent by Nadia Vingert

An Extraordinary Talent

by Nadia Vingert

It’s not often that you find amazing talent, but when you do, it excites you. Anastasia Petrik is an ordinary girl with an extraordinary voice. She was born in Ukraine and became famous by age ten. Her singing career is only in its third year, but she has already been on a popular show, won singing contests and performed on stage with pop music icons.

Anastasia was first noticed when she accidentally came on the show Ukraine’s Got Talent with her older sister. She wasn’t supposed to be in the show, but she happened to be in the right place at the right time. She stole the spotlight and captured the audience as a seven year old girl with a powerful voice. That was the beginning of her public singing career.

Dina Iakimchuk’s Article on Soccer in Ukraine

Why Soccer is Popular in Ukraine

Soccer in Ukraine has been popular since the 19th century. Playing soccer is very popular in schools. When I was a child, I often played soccer with my friends everywhere and after playing, we were pretty tired. But it was fun for us. Now this kind of sport is popular for several reasons.

Soccer is popular in my country because playing soccer keeps people in shape. Today, many people have problems with their weight and playing soccer is a good physical activity to get in shape. Playing soccer burns calories, thus people who play soccer lose weight successfully.

An Essay on Alexander Pushkin’s poem, ‘Yevgeniy Onegin’ by Nadezda Vingert:

A.S.Pushkin

           My Thoughts on Yevgeniy Onegin

                                        by

                                  Nadezda Vingert

I want to talk about one of the most famous and popular romantic poems in Russia. This poem is about the unanswered love of a woman by the name of Tatyana and her love, Yevgeniy. This poem is famous and popular in my country because it is very romantic, it has an interesting story and it is by a famous author, Alexsandr Pyshkin.

This poem is romantic because it talks about the real love and emotions of a woman in love. It deals with the cruel reality of being rejected by the one you love. Tatyana was written letters by Yevgeniy, but he didn’t answer her. Finally he started to love her, but it was too late. She married another man.

It is an excellent story because it is written in such away that intrigues and pulls you into the story. You start to feel worried and other emotions. You live out the story with the characters. When you read Tatyana’s letters, you can completely understand her feelings. They are transferred to you because her feelings are very touching.

The poem is very popular in Russia because it is required in the school program. The poet Alexsandr Pyshkin is very famous in Russia. His works are studied from first grade on. He has written many fairy tales and novels. In Moscow we have a subway station named “Pyshkinskay” in honor of Alexsandr Pyshkin.

Because this poem is very romantic, and has an interesting  story, it is very popular. I recommend reading it. It is good to read poems by the greatest poet in history. And I believe it will bring great pleasure and satisfaction.

An Essay on the Film Courageous by Dina Iakimchuk:

After Watching the Movie Courageous

by

Dina Iakimchuk

Courageous

Almost one year ago, I saw the movie Courageous. I like this movie because it describes relationships between parents and children, and also the connection between people and God. I’m going to talk about two families in the movie and I would like to show how their lives changed after they connected with God.

First, Adam’s family included two children and Victoria, his wife. After the death of his daughter, he changed his mind about his relationship with family. He realized he must rebuild his relationship with his son. Fortunately, Adam understood his mistake, and started to study the Bible very hard. Adam was a good man, but after this situation, he was a better man.

The second family, whose lives were changed, were Javier Martinez and his family. They weren’t rich, but one day Javier lost his job. They were very upset, but they trusted God and the next day he got a new job. They were lucky and grateful. Martinez was a rich person because he had a good family, loving children and a strong trust in God.

Adam and Javier both found different ways to learn one lesson. They both started to trust God after their losses. Adam changed his mind after he lost his daughter and Javier started to trust God after he lost his job. They understood how it was important to entrust in God all their problems and losses.

In short, this movie is an example for me to be protective and careful about my family. And also when severities come in our life, we must entrust all problems to God. Because religion was valuable to Adam and Javier, it can be important for everyone.
